In the exhilarating final months of 2023, our team embarked on an ambitious journey with Verve to revitalize their ready-to-drink product line. Embracing a brisk 3-month schedule, our mission was to elevate their already thriving RTD selection to unprecedented heights of excellence.
Our blueprint for success was clear: reengineer the recipes with purity at their core, free from gums and oils, minimal sugar content (aiming for less than 10 grams), and a shelf-stable formula, all while encapsulating the quintessential cafe-made taste that Verve's numerous locations nationwide are celebrated for.
Amid these endeavors, Verve was honored with Roast Magazine's illustrious Roaster of the Year award for 2024, propelling its brand into over 55 Capital One Cafes across the US. With such high stakes, anything less than perfection was out of the question.
Bolstered by our tried-and-true methodologies and stellar reputation for producing cafe-caliber, ready-to-drink coffee beverages, we enthusiastically accepted the challenge and plunged headfirst into the reformulation process.
Transitioning from retort processing presented a unique puzzle. Retort, with its intense heat and prolonged ultra-high temperature (UHT) treatment, can induce chemical changes that detract from the product's integrity. Moreover, it can mask ingredient imperfections and impart an artificial taste that has long been an industry obstacle—until our unique approach to perfection was employed.
